The Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L IS II USM combines a lightweight design with advanced optics and stabilization. It balances portability with consistent performance, making it ideal for portraits, events, and sports. The constant f/4 aperture ensures even light transmission across the zoom range.
Advanced Optical Design
Canon integrates one fluorite element and two UD glass elements to minimize chromatic aberrations and color fringing. As a result, images remain sharp and color-accurate. In addition, a Super Spectra Coating reduces flare and ghosting, improving contrast and clarity in bright or backlit conditions.

Version II of this lens introduces a five-stop Optical Image Stabilizer. It supports three modes: Standard, Panning, and Exposure Only, giving photographers flexibility in different scenarios. This stabilization makes handheld shooting easier, even in low-light conditions.
Autofocus and Control
The ring-type Ultrasonic Motor (USM), combined with an internal focusing system, delivers fast, precise, and quiet autofocus. Moreover, full-time manual focus override is always available for fine adjustments. The Focus Limiter switch lets you restrict focus to 3.3’–infinity or 9.8’–infinity for faster performance.
Build and Professional Features
As part of the L-series, the lens is dust- and moisture-sealed, ensuring reliability in harsh environments. A rounded nine-blade diaphragm enhances background blur, producing smooth and natural bokeh.
The lens is also compatible with EF 1.4x and EF 2x teleconverters for extended reach. For tripod use, an optional AII(WII) Tripod Mount Ring provides added stability.
