The Tilta Nucleus‑M is a wireless lens control system designed for professional cinema and video work. It offers a wireless range of up to 1000 ft and includes two lens motors with built‑in receivers, a FIZ hand unit, and two handgrips. One handgrip controls focus, while the other controls iris and zoom, giving you full three‑axis control on set.
Motors and Mounting
Each motor uses a cine‑standard 0.8 MOD, 32‑pitch drive gear that works with most cinema lenses and photo lenses with gear rings. The motors feature two 7‑pin ports, so you can swap their positions freely and daisy‑chain power between them. Every motor ships with a 19 mm rod clamp plus a 15–19 mm bushing, allowing quick mounting on both 15 mm and 19 mm rod systems.
Wireless Control and Channels
The FIZ hand unit lets you control focus, iris, and zoom from a single controller and can override the handgrips when needed. The system supports three power ranges—low, medium, and high—and up to 15 selectable channels to avoid interference on busy sets. Controllers link to each motor using its motor ID, which keeps pairing reliable and quick during rig changes.
Hand Unit and Handgrips
The FIZ controller includes a neck strap for comfortable use during long days. The two wireless handgrips ship with adapters that attach to ARRI‑standard rosettes or 25/30 mm gimbal rods, so you can use them on shoulder rigs, cages, and ring gimbals. You can assign focus to one grip and iris/zoom to the other or split control with the FIZ unit depending on your shooting style.
Power and Battery Life
The motors draw power from a D‑Tap source and then pass power along the chain through the 7‑pin cables, which keeps wiring simple. The FIZ hand unit and each handgrip use two 18650 3.7 V Li‑ion batteries, but batteries are not included in the kit and must be purchased separately. On a full charge, the hand unit can run for more than 10 hours, and each handgrip can stay powered for up to 48 hours when idle, which suits multi‑day shoots.
