As part of the prestigious G Master series, this lens offers exceptional resolution and sharpness. It corrects a wide range of spherical and chromatic aberrations. The constant f/2.8 aperture ensures excellent low-light performance and better depth-of-field control.
Nano AR Coating reduces reflections, flare, and ghosting, improving contrast and color in bright light. The rounded 11-blade diaphragm creates smooth, attractive bokeh for artistic effects.
- The optical design includes two XA (extreme aspherical) elements and three standard aspherical elements. These minimize distortion, coma, field curvature, and other aberrations. Two ED elements reduce chromatic aberrations and color fringing, ensuring clarity and accurate colors.
Practical and Intuitive Handling
Two Direct Drive SSM (DDSSM) autofocus groups deliver fast, quiet, and precise focusing for both stills and video. The floating focusing system separates focus groups for consistent sharpness across the zoom and focus ranges.
A dedicated focus hold button and AF/MF switch give quick control over focus settings. The dust- and moisture-sealed body supports shooting in harsh weather. Rubberized control rings improve grip in cold conditions.
The front element has a fluorine coating that resists fingerprints and dust, making cleaning easier.
