Stabilized Normal Prime for APS-C
The Sony E 35mm f1.8 OSS is a versatile and lightweight prime lens for APS-C E-mount cameras. It delivers a 52.5mm equivalent focal length, making it perfect for everyday use and portraits. The bright f/1.8 maximum aperture allows excellent low-light performance. In addition, Optical SteadyShot image stabilization helps produce sharp handheld shots, even at slower shutter speeds.
Optical Design
- The wide f/1.8 aperture not only improves low-light imaging but also enables shallow depth-of-field effects. A rounded seven-blade diaphragm enhances bokeh for selective focus techniques. Moreover, one extra-low dispersion element minimizes chromatic aberrations, ensuring improved clarity and color accuracy. Two aspherical elements also reduce distortion, astigmatism, and other monochromatic aberrations.
Image Stabilization and Autofocus
- Optical SteadyShot image stabilization helps to minimize the appearance of camera shake for sharper imagery when shooting handheld with slower shutter speeds. This stabilization system can be combined with select camera’s sensor-shift type image stabilization for more effective control of camera blur.
- An internal focus mechanism contributes to faster, more responsive autofocus, the minimum focus distance of 11.8″, and easier handling as the lens does not change in length during use.
