Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III USM Overview
Wide-Angle Workhorse
The Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III USM is a professional wide-angle zoom from Canon’s L-series lineup. Designed for landscapes, architecture, and events, it delivers edge-to-edge clarity and consistent performance. Its constant f/2.8 aperture ensures excellent low-light capability and strong depth of field control.
Advanced Optical Design
Canon equips the lens with three aspherical elements and two ultra-low dispersion (UD) elements. Together, they minimize distortion, spherical aberrations, and chromatic fringing. As a result, images maintain sharpness, clarity, and accurate colors across the zoom range.
To further improve quality, Canon applies both Subwavelength Coating (SWC) and Air Sphere Coating (ASC). These coatings reduce flare and ghosting, producing higher contrast and better light transmission in bright or backlit conditions.
Fast Autofocus and Handling
The lens uses a ring-type Ultrasonic Motor (USM) with a high-speed CPU and optimized algorithms. This system provides fast, precise, and near-silent autofocus. In addition, full-time manual focus is always available for fine-tuning.
Durability and Professional Features
As part of the L-series, the lens features a dust- and moisture-sealed construction for reliable outdoor use. Canon also applies a fluorine coating to the front and rear elements, which resists smudges and fingerprints while making cleaning easier.
A rounded nine-blade diaphragm creates smooth, natural-looking bokeh, enhancing shallow depth of field effects.
