The Canon EOS RP uses the advanced RF lens mount, designed for Canon’s RF-mount lenses. It features a wide 54mm diameter and a short 20mm flange-back distance. This allows Canon to create lenses that are faster, more compact, and optically superior compared to traditional SLR lenses.

The mount includes a 12-pin electronic contact system. This enables faster, more accurate autofocus and improved image stabilization between the camera and lens.

Additionally, the EOS RP is fully compatible with Canon’s existing EF and EF-S lenses when used with the optional EF-EOS R mount adapter. This gives you access to a wide range of Canon lenses without sacrificing performance.

Canon’s Dual Pixel CMOS AF system delivers fast and smooth autofocus, much like a professional camcorder. It uses two photodiodes per pixel to create a dense phase-detection network across most of the sensor. This design minimizes focus hunting and gives you more precise control.

When shooting stills, the system locks focus quickly and accurately—ideal for capturing and tracking moving subjects. In video mode, Movie Servo AF provides natural focus transitions as you move between subjects or distances. You can also adjust tracking sensitivity, AF speed, and prioritize face or eye detection.

With the Touch AF feature, you can shift focus simply by tapping on the touchscreen—perfect for intuitive rack focusing. The system can recognize and track subjects even in complex or cluttered scenes. It also performs well in low-light environments, focusing accurately down to EV -5.

The Canon EOS RP is built for creators who need high-quality video. It records UHD 4K (3840 × 2160) video at up to 23.98 fps with a bitrate of 120 Mb/s. You can also shoot Full HD 1080p and HD 720p at 60 fps, making it ideal for smooth playback and slow motion.

When recording internally, 4K video uses 4:2:0 sampling with 8-bit color. If you connect an external recorder, the camera supports 4:2:2 8-bit output for better color depth.

Audio recording is flexible—you can use the built-in stereo microphone or plug in an external mic through the 3.5mm input jack.

To keep your footage steady, the EOS RP features 5-axis Digital IS (Dual Sensing Image Stabilization), which helps reduce camera shake during handheld shooting.

The Canon EOS RP features a 2.36-million-dot OLED electronic viewfinder, giving you a bright and sharp eye-level viewing experience.

On the back, a 3.0-inch 1.04-million-dot vari-angle LCD touchscreen lets you shoot from high, low, or front-facing angles with ease. The touchscreen also provides intuitive control over focus, playback, and menu navigation.

Built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth allow you to wirelessly control the camera and transfer images to your smartphone using the Canon Camera Connect app. You can also geotag your photos using your phone’s location data.

For added convenience, the EOS RP supports USB charging, making it easy to recharge the battery on the go.
