Nikon Z50 II Overview

A Compact Powerhouse for Discovery and Play

The Nikon Z50 II Mirrorless Camera with 16-50mm Lens is a compact yet powerful system built for emerging creators. It features a 20.9MP APS-C CMOS sensor and the EXPEED 7 image processor, delivering professional-level performance in a travel-friendly body. Compatible with the full NIKKOR Z lens lineup, the Z50 II gives you the creative freedom to capture stunning photos and videos beyond smartphone quality.

20.9MP DX-Format CMOS Sensor & EXPEED 7 Image Processor

The 20.9MP DX-format CMOS sensor works with Nikon’s advanced EXPEED 7 processor, the same engine found in flagship full-frame models. Together, they provide high sensitivity, low noise, and fast AI-powered autofocus with full-resolution continuous shooting up to 30 fps.
ISO ranges from 100–51,200 (expandable to 204,800) for sharp, clean results in any lighting. The large sensor ensures smooth color transitions and accurate tones across the dynamic range.

Nikon’s Most Advanced Autofocus

Borrowing algorithms from the Z9, the Z50 II introduces deep-learning-based Subject Detection AF that recognizes nine subject types, including people, animals, birds, vehicles, and aircraft.
The camera’s Bird Detection Mode tracks even fast-moving subjects with precision.
Eye-Detection AF is now faster and more accurate, and users can combine it with Wide-Area AF for better framing flexibility.

Pre-Release Capture

Thanks to the EXPEED 7 processor, the Pre-Release Capture mode records frames for up to one second before the shutter is fully pressed. You’ll never miss a crucial moment — half-press to start buffering, then capture the perfect shot once you press fully.

UHD 4K Video Recording

The Z50 II with 16-50mm excels in video too. It records UHD 4K at up to 60 fps and Full HD at up to 120 fps, with built-in electronic VR, Product Review mode, and a recording limit of up to 2 hours.
It supports 10-bit N-Log recording, four new RED LUTs, and UAC/UAV compliance for direct live streaming—a first for Nikon. You can also record time-lapse 4K videos directly in-camera or output via HDMI.

Color Control for Creators

Creators can instantly access 31 Picture Control presets via a dedicated button. The rear LCD displays real-time color preview overlays for intuitive adjustments.
You can also download Creator Recipes from the Nikon Imaging Cloud or upload your own with a free one-year subscription to Nikon Cloud Picture Controls for full creative flexibility.

Body Design and Connectivity

The 3.2″ flip-out touchscreen tilts 180° for selfies, vlogs, or vertical content. Its new Touch FN feature lets you tap to focus with ease.
The EVF is now twice as bright and redesigned for comfortable eye-level viewing. A built-in flash, hot shoe, and Night Portrait Mode give you control in low-light scenes.

For connectivity, the camera includes:

    • USB-C port for charging and power delivery

    • Headphone/mic jacks and HDMI out

    • SnapBridge, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) for quick sharing and remote shooting

    • EN-EL25a battery with in-camera charging

    • Single UHS-II SD card slot for fast file transfer

Nikon NIKKOR Z DX 16-50mm f/3.5-6.3 VR Lens (Black)

A stepping motor ensures quiet, fast autofocus — ideal for both photos and video. The programmable control ring allows custom settings like aperture or exposure compensation. Its rounded seven-blade diaphragm produces smooth, cinematic background blur.
