The Sony FE 85mm f/1.4 GM is often called the perfect portrait lens. Its flattering short-telephoto view, bright f/1.4 aperture, and advanced optics make it ideal for portraits, events, and any scene where precise focus control matters. As part of the G Master series, it delivers exceptional sharpness and smooth bokeh for premium image quality.

Fast Design, Refined Optics

Sony designed this G Master lens for high resolution and sharpness by correcting various spherical and chromatic aberrations. The wide f/1.4 aperture performs well in low light and offers excellent depth-of-field control.
A Nano AR Coating reduces reflections, flare, and ghosting, improving contrast and color in strong lighting. The rounded 11-blade diaphragm produces pleasing, circular bokeh.

Its optical design includes one XA element to minimize astigmatism, field curvature, and coma. Three extra-low dispersion elements reduce color fringing and improve clarity.

Practical and Intuitive Handling

The Linear Super Sonic wave Motor (SSM) AF system delivers fast, quiet, and precise focusing for stills and video. Internal focusing ensures consistent lens length and smooth handling.
The lens barrel features an AF/MF switch for quick mode changes and a focus hold button for instant control. The physical aperture ring can be de-clicked for silent video operation.
Its dust- and moisture-resistant design allows shooting in challenging weather, while rubberized rings provide better grip in cold conditions.
