Fast and Precise AF
- Four XD Linear Motors provide quick, quiet, and accurate AF with excellent subject tracking. This design also enables natural, responsive manual focus via Linear Response control.
- The internal focusing system keeps the lens length consistent and enhances handling. A minimum focusing distance of 1.3 ft and 0.17x magnification enable dynamic close-ups with smooth background separation.

Despite its wide aperture and advanced optics, the lens remains compact at 3.4 × 4.4 inches and 1.7 lb. Two focus hold buttons on the barrel offer quick access to custom settings.

The physical aperture ring can be de-clicked for smooth, silent operation in video work. Dust- and moisture-resistant construction ensures reliability in harsh environments, while rubberized control rings improve grip in cold conditions. A fluorine-coated front element repels dust, moisture, and fingerprints for easy cleaning.
