The Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM is one of the most versatile lenses in Canon’s lineup. Covering focal lengths from wide-angle to portrait, it suits landscapes, events, and portraits. Its bright constant f/2.8 aperture ensures reliable low-light performance and precise depth of field control.

Advanced Optical Design

Canon uses one Super UD element and two UD elements to reduce chromatic aberrations and color fringing. As a result, images display excellent clarity and accurate colors across the zoom range. In addition, three aspherical elements minimize distortion and spherical aberrations, improving sharpness and rendering.

To enhance image quality further, Canon applies a Super Spectra Coating on elements. This coating reduces flare and ghosting, ensuring better contrast and neutral color reproduction even in bright lighting.

Autofocus and Performance

The lens integrates a ring-type Ultrasonic Motor (USM), optimized focusing algorithms, and a high-speed CPU. Together, they deliver fast, precise, and nearly silent autofocus. You can also use full-time manual focus override for critical adjustments.

A rounded nine-blade diaphragm produces smooth bokeh, enhancing shallow depth of field effects.

Build and Durability

As part of the L-series, the lens features a dust- and moisture-sealed design, making it reliable in harsh environments. Canon also applies a fluorine coating to the front and rear elements. This coating resists fingerprints and smudges, while also making cleaning easier.

The lens includes a zoom lock lever that secures the lens at its widest position. This feature protects the lens during transport and ensures a compact form factor.
