Optical Performance

Canon built this lens with a four-group zoom design to maintain quality while keeping it lightweight. It includes one ultra-low dispersion element, one aspherical element, and one large-diameter element. Together, they reduce chromatic and spherical aberrations and deliver sharp, clear images. Additionally, the Super Spectra Coating helps reduce flare and ghosting, improving contrast and color accuracy in bright conditions.

Autofocus and Stabilization

The lens uses an STM stepping motor for smooth, quiet, and accurate autofocus—perfect for both stills and video. A rear focus system and advanced AF algorithms further enhance speed and precision. You also get full-time manual focus override for added control.
