Canon RF 28mm f/2.8 STM Overview
This wide‑angle prime lens gives you a classic 28mm field of view on full‑frame cameras. On APS‑C sensors, it is similar to about 45mm, which is very natural for everyday shooting. The bright f/2.8 maximum aperture works well in low light and lets you control depth of field without adding bulk.
The lens uses three aspherical elements to reduce distortion and keep images sharp. A Super Spectra Coating also cuts down flare and ghosting, so you get higher contrast and more accurate colors in bright light.
A gear‑type STM motor delivers fast, quiet, and smooth autofocus for both photos and video. The minimum focusing distance is 9.1 inches, with a maximum magnification of 0.17x, so you can shoot close‑up details while still keeping a good depth of field.
The configurable Control Ring lets you adjust settings such as aperture, ISO, or exposure compensation with your fingers. A seven‑blade diaphragm helps create smooth, pleasing background blur. The EW‑55 threaded lens hood is sold separately and gives extra protection against flare and impact.
