Nanlite Para 120 with Bowens Mount Overview
The 47″ Para 120 Quick-Open Softbox with Bowens Mount from Nanlite is ideal for portraits or fashion. This 16-sided light shaper delivers a soft, focused output. It adds a punchy, crisp edge that enhances dimension and detail, while producing natural-looking catchlights in the subject’s eyes. Thanks to its unique 29″ depth, the modifier creates significant falloff at the field edge. As a result, you gain stronger directional control, reduced spill light, and easier feathering. Nanlite includes both 1- and 2-stop front diffusers, which you can use together, individually, or not at all to achieve different contrast levels. A Bowens Type-S speed ring and a carrying bag also come with the softbox for storage and transport.
Control and Shape Light
The Para 120’s reflective silver interior maximizes output. At the same time, the removable front diffuser softens light and reduces contrast. Because of the parabolic shape, the softbox creates even wraparound lighting and natural catchlights. Its depth increases directional control, minimizes spill light, and ensures noticeable falloff.
Multiple Diffusion Options
Nanlite provides both 1- and 2-stop diffusers so you can adjust light quality even further. Without diffusers, the Para 120 works as a large reflector, delivering high-contrast light.
Bowens-Style Speed Ring
Nanlite designed the Para 120 to work with its Forza Series LEDs, but the included Bowens-style speed ring also fits many other LED, strobe, and constant lights. This design expands compatibility significantly.
Fast Setup and Break Down
Since Nanlite Forza LEDs are ready in seconds, their softboxes should be too. The Para 120 features a quick-open speed ring with spring-loaded rod locks. You simply snap the rods into place to set up, then release them with one touch to break down quickly.
Accepts Optional Fabric Grids
For even more control, you can attach an optional fabric grid with touch-fasteners. This accessory narrows the beam angle to 60 degrees and pushes the light forward for greater directionality. The grid is sold separately.
