The Sony FE 12-24mm f/2.8 GM is a premium ultra-wide-angle zoom lens for full-frame E-mount cameras. It offers an exceptionally wide field of view and a bright constant f/2.8 aperture. This combination ensures excellent low-light performance and allows creative depth-of-field control. Advanced G Master Optics
- This G Master lens is built to deliver high resolution and sharpness by correcting spherical and chromatic aberrations. The bright f/2.8 aperture helps in low light and improves depth-of-field control. Nano AR Coating II reduces reflections, flare, and ghosting, improving contrast and color in strong light. Its rounded nine-blade diaphragm produces smooth, pleasing bokeh.
- The optical design includes three XA (extreme aspherical) elements, one standard aspherical element, two Super ED elements, and three ED elements. These work together to minimize distortion, astigmatism, coma, and color fringing. A floating focusing system separates the focus group into two controlled groups, maintaining clarity across the zoom range.
Fast Focusing and Intuitive Handling
- The XD Linear Motor system uses four separate motors—two per focus group—for fast, precise, and quiet autofocus. Linear Response manual focus provides natural control. The AF/MF switch and focus hold button offer quick access to key settings. You can focus as close as 11 inches throughout the zoom range.
Durable and Practical Design
- The lens’s dust- and moisture-sealed construction allows shooting in harsh weather. Rubberized control rings improve handling in cold temperatures. A fluorine coating on the front element repels dust, moisture, and fingerprints. The integrated petal-shaped hood reduces lens flare and protects the front element. A rear filter holder accepts cut gel filters, and a cutting template is included.
